Traditionally, Tibetan tiger bells were used as amulets to ward off evil and worn as part of a necklace or bracelet, or simply threaded onto some brightly colored wool and stitched to a garment. The very large sizes, similar to the size of a cow bell, were hung in doorways or from posts near the entrance to a house.
